"Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground."
About Rumi Night
Join us for a celebration of Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi, 13th century Persian poet, philosopher and Sufi mystic whose writing continues to be studied and honored worldwide.
Whether you are a newcomer to his work or a longtime admirer, we hope you will join us for an evening of poetry, conversation, Persian desserts, and tea. Everyone is invited to bring a Rumi poem to share in English or Persian, or simply come to listen.
English translations are interspersed with Persian-Americans sharing Rumi's poetry in both Farsi and English. We are blessed to experience the musicality and rhymes of the original Persian, plus English translations. Whether you are a poetry lover or not, Rumi's beautiful words will meet you where you are, wherever that may be.
Come be inspired by a Rumi poem you've never heard before, or by a fresh perspective when you hear a 10-year-old read a poem you've loved for many years. When we lend our voices to the poetry, we become the poetry at an essential level—experiencing Rumi's work in live community, as it was 750 years ago.
What to Expect
Each Rumi Night is an intimate, informal gathering where participants share their favorite Rumi poems and translations. We create a warm, supportive atmosphere where the poetry speaks for itself, inviting reflection, connection, and conversation.
Feel free to bring a Rumi poem to read aloud, or simply come to enjoy the shared experience of Rumi's profound insights. Tea is generously provided by Divine Lotus Tea Company along with traditional Persian desserts.
"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I'll meet you there."
